A 2 Men Texas Scramble format involves 2-person teams where each player on the team hits a tee shot, and then the players decide which shot they like better. The two players then play from that spot.
The person who's shot was not taken picks up his/her ball and moves it to within one club length of the selected agreed spot, not closer to the pin.
You then repeat the process with each shot until the ball is in the hole.
*Restriction: Each member of the group must contribute a minimum of 4 drivers per round!
As a team you only return one score per hole!
Format: Team stroke play (NET) or Stableford (NET)
*For a Ryder Cup, it will be a Match Play (NET).
Team Handicap Calculator:
A = Lowest Handicap player x 0,35
B = Highest Handicap player x 0,15
Team Handicap = the Sum of A+B
Exampe:
a) lowest playing handicap player 8.3 = 2.9
b) highest player handicap player 25.4 = 3.81
Team Handicap: 2.9+3.8 = 6.71
Handicap is typically calculated as one player × 35% of their Course Handicap (instead of 35% + 15% for two players).
How did the name come about?
Formally known as the the Captain's Choice, in the 1950's the competition became so popular in Texas it then became known as the “Texas Scramble”
